The Gift of God’s Creation: An Environmental Education Workshop for Young Children

This workshop is designed to help Christian Educators of young children develop resources, projects, and techniques to help children develop a deeper appreciation of God's natural creation. This workshop will introduce participants to resources and ideas that can be used in Christian Education settings, will include opportunities for guided discussions regarding potential problems and possible solutions that may arise when introducing young children to God's creation, and will include practical activities including age appropriate classroom projects and learning activities at a neighborhood lake and restored prairie located on the grounds of United Theological Seminary. The workshop will lead by experienced facilitators. As part of the workshop will be outside, please dress comfortably for the weather and short walks.

Co-Leaders

Dale Hadler holds a Master of Arts in Religion and Theology from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities and a Master of Science in Recreation and Park Administration from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. Dale has 25 years professional and volunteer experience in the areas of environmental education, environmental advocacy, community organizing, and work with developmentally disabled adults and chronic alcoholics.
 
Mary Kaye Ashley is an ordained Lutheran pastor who has played with children and families her entire life; Mary Kaye is employed by the Early Child and Family Education Program in Independent School District 191.
