United Methodist Students
United
Theological Seminary is approved by the University
Senate of the United
Methodist Church and has a long history of working
closely with the Minnesota Annual Conference. Students
who choose
United will discover:
Two members of the resident faculty are United Methodist:
Joseph
Bush Jr., associate professor of life and leadership
of the congregation, and
director of masters studies
Martha
Postlethwaite, associate professor of spiritual
formation, and chaplain;
United Methodist History and Polity and the Theology of
Wesleyan Traditions are taught on a regular basis by UMC
adjunct faculty members;
As
a significant community within United, there are opportunities
for UMC students to engage one another and to be in conversation
with the bishop, cabinet members, and other representatives
of the Annual Conference through a special UMC seminar that
meets six times each year;
All
students at United have access to the seminary’s
generous program of financial
aid;
UMC faculty, clergy from the wider community, and students
share in the leadership of community worship;
The United Methodist Hymnal is one of the seminary
hymnals; and
UMC graduates serve the church in a wide range of ministries
throughout the country.
