Ecumenical Commitment
As
it has for more than four decades, United Theological
Seminary of the Twin Cities enables people with diverse
backgrounds to explore common ground
while
celebrating
their own heritages and personal experiences. Chartered
by the United Church of Christ to be a multi-denominational
seminary, United serves
an ecumenical community, drawing
students from more than 20 denominations as well
as other religious communities. The seminary’s
faculty and student body include people from, among
others, the United Church of Christ, United Methodist,
Presbyterian,
Episcopal,
Unitarian Universalist, Lutheran, Roman Catholic,
Baptist, Congregational, Disciples of Christ, Jewish,
Buddhist, and Muslim traditions
In
addition to being a seminary of the United
Church of Christ, faculty and staff at United work
closely with four partner denominations to insure that both
denominational requirements and appropriate nurturing of
denominational
traditions are present as students participate in an ecumenical
context.
