M.A. Concentration
in Leadership Toward Racial Justice

The concentration in Leadership Toward
Racial Justice provides the knowledge, understanding, and
skills to facilitate antiracism transformation in congregations,
communities, schools, corporations, and other settings.
Requirements of the Concentration
Five 3-credit classes as follows:
- TR331
Antiracism Dialogue: Theory and Practice
- Three electives selected from a list
approved by the Educational Planning and Evaluation Committee
(including courses, for example, in African American experience
and theology, Native American experience and theology,
as well as immersion trips to Two Thirds World countries,
and suitable offering at Consortium schools).

Educational Goals of the Concentration
The excellent graduate of the Leadership Toward Racial Justice concentration
of the United M.A. degree program:
- has an understanding of the dynamics of racism and white
privilege, especially in his or her systemic and institutional
manifestations;
- has knowledge of the experience and religious traditions
of at least two communities of color; and
- is enabled and motivated to be an effective agent of
change for the elimination of racism in church and society.
